Why generic scanners miss BMW codes
For BMW, get the ANCEL BM700. It's made specifically for BMW and Mini, and it reads all the BMW-specific codes that generic scanners miss. It's At its current price way cheaper than a single dealer diagnostic.
Generic OBD2 scanners are fine for basic engine-light stuff, but BMW has a ton of proprietary codes across ABS, SRS, transmission, and more that you simply won't see without a BMW-specific tool. That's the whole reason to get the BM700 over a budget generic reader.
