The fitness & running gear I actually train in (2026)

✅ Bought & trained in, not gifted 🦶 Flat-feet tested 🤝 Honest about what matters

I've got flat feet and I train across running, resistance work, and the water — so I've learned the hard way which gear actually holds up. These are the pieces I keep coming back to, with the stuff that genuinely matters called out.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25

Best for flat feet and overpronation

This is the shoe for flat feet — basically the first thing every running store puts overpronators in. I started running about two years ago with the same issue, and the Adrenaline is what the guy at my local shop put me in after watching me walk. It has support built into the sides that keeps your foot from rolling inward, but it doesn't feel stiff or clunky like some stability shoes — just a normal, comfortable shoe that happens to support you. It holds up for gym workouts too (go barefoot for squats).

Whatafit Resistance Bands (with handles)

Best for full-body band workouts

I've used the Whatafit set with handles and for a full routine it works really well. The handles and door anchor make presses, flyes, rows, pulldowns, curls, and tricep work a lot easier to set up. I tried loop bands too, but this kind felt way more useful for complete workouts — the handles are the difference.

180-inch Hand Wraps

Best length for full knuckle & wrist coverage

180 is standard for a reason — it gives you enough length to properly wrap your knuckles and wrist without running out. 120 works, but you're usually skimping on either wrist support or knuckle padding. I use 180-inch wraps and get full coverage on both. The extra length matters if you have bigger hands or want more padding over the knuckles. (If 120 has worked for you with no hand injuries, don't overthink it.)

Churchill Makapuu Fins

Best for bodysurfing

For bodysurfing, the Churchill Makapuu are solid — similar stiffness to Da Fins but the heel strap is way more durable, around $40. The Viper V7 is another good option: a little softer than Da Fins, but they last forever and the straps don't break. Da Fins are great until the heel gives out — both of these hold up better long term.

Why trust this list? I actually train in all of it — flat feet and all. Where a cheaper option is fine (like shorter hand wraps), I say so instead of pushing the priciest thing. Bought with my own money, no freebies.
