Tealight Gravy Warmer

Johnny Alto, illustrated portraitHands-on review by · Published July 20, 2026

8.2/10 Our verdictHands-on tested, not gifted

The cheap way to keep gravy warm all meal, no cords on the table. A tealight under a porcelain boat keeps it pourable from the first plate to seconds, simpler than a bulky electric warmer.

Why a candle beats electric here

I just use a gravy warmer with a tea light. It's At its current price-30 and keeps the gravy warm the whole meal, which is the one thing that always fails at Thanksgiving, gravy going cold and gluey by the time you want seconds.

It's way simpler than an electric warmer, with no cords on the table. Electric ones work, but they're bulkier and you're tied to an outlet. The candle warmers do the job just fine.

What I liked

  • Keeps gravy pourable the whole meal
  • No cords or outlet needed at the table
  • Simple porcelain boat, easy to clean
  • Cheaper than electric warmers

What to know

  • Keeps it warm, not piping hot
  • Open flame, keep clear of kids and reach
  • Tealights burn down on long meals (keep spares)
  • Smaller capacity than a big gravy boat

Common questions

Candle or electric gravy warmer?

Candle is simpler, cheaper, and cordless. Electric works but is bulkier and needs an outlet at the table.

Does it actually keep gravy warm?

Yes, a tealight holds it warm and pourable through the whole meal, which is the usual failure point.
