Roll-on vs spray
If you want easy and cheap, go roll-on, not spray. Spray is fast, but it's way easier to mess up and it gets pricey once you buy enough cans. I did a roll-on kit on an older truck and it was totally good for normal weekend stuff, bags of mulch, random tools, that kind of thing.
The finish isn't perfect up close, but it stopped scratches and kept things from sliding around as much. For basic DIY, the Herculiner Roll-On Bed Liner Kit is a solid pick, a lot of people use it for exactly this.

- Cheaper than buying enough spray cans
- Roller and brush make it hard to botch
- Stops scratches and reduces sliding cargo
- One kit covers a full bed with two coats

- Finish isn't showroom-smooth up close
- Prep (sand and clean) matters for adhesion
