Bought it for the dog smell, ended up loving it for allergies. My wife stopped waking up stuffy after we ran it in the bedroom at night. Quiet enough to sleep through, and the filters only need swapping every ~6 months.
I originally got the Core 300 because our dog was making the house smell funky, but my wife's seasonal allergies ended up being the thing it helped most. She used to wake up stuffy and sneezing every spring morning, and that pretty much stopped once we started running it in the bedroom at night.
It's quiet enough to sleep through on the low setting, and the filters only need swapping every six months or so, way less annoying than I expected. Just make sure whatever you buy has a real HEPA filter; that's what actually catches the fine allergens.
It cleans airborne allergens, but dust mites mostly live in your mattress and bedding, a purifier helps overall air quality but won't solve that at the source.
Every six months or so in my use, less often than I expected.
Quiet enough to sleep through on the low setting.
