How to make a name tracing worksheet
Tracing is how most young children learn to write their name. You give them the letters printed lightly, either as dotted gray shapes or as hollow outlines, and they trace over the top with a pencil to build the muscle memory for each stroke. Three ruled guide lines, a top line, a dashed middle, and a solid baseline, teach them how tall each letter should be and where it sits. This maker does all of that: type a name, pick the style and size, and it lays out repeated practice lines you can print.
A common setup is to make the first line a solid dark example so the child can see the finished shape, then leave the rest dotted or hollow for them to trace. Start with a large size for little hands and move to smaller sizes as they improve. Uppercase is easiest for the very young, and Title Case (a capital first letter, the rest lowercase) matches how a name is normally written.
