Split a group into random teams in seconds. Paste your list of names, pick how many teams you want, and the generator shuffles everyone and deals them out evenly. Reshuffle as many times as you like until it feels fair, then print or copy the result.
Everything runs in your browser. Names are shuffled with an unbiased algorithm and dealt out one at a time so teams stay as even as possible. If the total does not divide evenly, the earliest teams get the extra player.
How the team generator works
Making fair teams by hand is slow and rarely random: people cluster their friends, or the same strong players end up together. This tool removes the bias. Paste your names, and it shuffles the whole list using an unbiased shuffle, then deals players out one at a time across the teams so the sizes stay even. You can split by a fixed number of teams or by a target number of players per team, whichever suits the game.
Because it deals round by round rather than slicing the list into blocks, an uneven total spreads the leftover players across the first few teams instead of dumping them all on the last one.
Uses and tips
It works for pickup sports, classroom groups, gaming squads, secret-santa draws, quiz-night tables, and any time you need impartial groups fast. If the split does not feel right, just generate again for a fresh shuffle.
