Why silicone gloves fail
Skip the silicone gloves, they're not actually heat resistant enough for smoking, and you'll burn yourself. Those glowing Amazon ratings are mostly fake, like you said.
Get actual leather welding gloves instead. They're way more heat resistant and durable, I can grab racks straight off the smoker with them, no problem. They're not as flexible as silicone, but they actually protect your hands, which is the whole point.
