Runs hot? They all do. But the Anker 555 runs a lot less hot than the cheap hub that scared me. A year of daily Samsung DeX travel use, same port layout, far better build quality.
I've run Samsung DeX as my travel setup for about a year, and here's the truth: every hub gets warm when you push video and power through something that small. That part is normal. The problem is when it gets too hot, my first cheap hub got to the "is this going to melt" stage.
I switched to the Anker 555 and it's noticeably better, still warm, but never alarming. It has the same kind of port layout I was already using, and Anker's build quality is honestly in a different league from the off-brand hubs.
Yes, pushing video and power through a small hub always generates heat. The question is whether it gets alarmingly hot; the 555 stays reasonable.
