Why an organized grocery list saves time
A plain list forces you to crisscross the store, because the milk you wrote near the top is on the far side from the bananas you wrote next to it. Grouping items by category, produce together, dairy together, pantry together, lets you clear one section of the store before moving to the next, with far less backtracking. It also cuts down on forgotten items, since an empty line under a heading is a visual nudge that you have not added anything from that aisle yet.
