Generate printable isometric graph paper for 3D sketching, technical drawing, and game maps. Set the spacing and it draws a to-scale triangular grid of vertical lines and 30-degree diagonals, so cubes and volumes come out in correct isometric proportion.
Prints to scale at 100% (no fit-to-page). Isometric paper uses vertical lines with 30-degree diagonals rather than a square grid, which is what makes freehand 3D boxes look right.
Why isometric paper is different
Ordinary graph paper is a square grid, which is fine for flat plots but wrong for drawing three-dimensional objects freehand. Isometric graph paper replaces the horizontal lines with two sets of diagonals at 30 degrees, keeping only the verticals. The result is a grid of equilateral triangles. Drawing along those three directions automatically gives you the foreshortening of a true isometric view, so a cube looks like a cube instead of a lopsided box.
This makes it the standard paper for sketching product designs, furniture, architecture, machine parts, and tabletop game maps, as well as isometric pixel art. Each of the three line directions represents one axis of 3D space.
Getting the scale right
Choose lines per inch for how fine you want the grid, then print at 100 percent with fit-to-page turned off so the spacing is true and your measured drawings stay accurate. A coarser grid, three or four lines per inch, suits quick concept sketches; a finer grid gives more precision for detailed technical work. Download the SVG if you would rather draw over it digitally.
Frequently asked questions
What is isometric graph paper?
Paper printed with vertical lines and two sets of 30-degree diagonals, forming a triangular grid. It lets you sketch 3D objects in correct isometric proportion by hand.
What is isometric paper used for?
Freehand 3D drawing: product and furniture design, architecture, machine parts, tabletop game maps, and isometric pixel art.
How is it different from regular graph paper?
Regular graph paper is a square grid for flat plots. Isometric paper uses 30-degree diagonals so drawings show three-dimensional depth correctly.
How do I print it accurately?
Print at 100 percent scale with no fit-to-page so the grid spacing is true to your chosen lines per inch.
