Pick a category and press Draw a word. One player sketches it (no letters, no numbers, no talking!) while the team guesses before the timer runs out. Pass the phone to the next player.

How to play Pictionary

Pictionary is the drawing guessing game: one player draws a word while their team races to guess it before time runs out. The one rule that makes it work is that the artist cannot use letters, numbers, or words in the drawing, and cannot talk or gesture answers, only sketch. This generator handles the part that always stalls a game, coming up with words to draw, so you can jump straight to playing without anyone peeking at a list.

Pick a category to match your players, or choose Everything for a mix. The Easy category is full of simple, very drawable words for young kids, while Hard is packed with abstract concepts (gravity, deja vu, echo) that make for a real challenge with adults. Press Draw a word, start the 60-second timer, and pass the phone to the next artist when the round ends.

Team play and tips

Split into two teams and score a point for each word guessed in time. Common tips: start with the big shapes before details, draw the parts of a compound word separately, and do not waste time making it pretty, speed beats art. Keep turns short with the timer so the game stays lively, and agree up front whether proper nouns are allowed.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Pictionary generator work?

Pick a category (or Everything), press Draw a word, and a random drawable word appears for the artist to sketch. Use the built-in 60-second timer for each turn, then pass the device to the next player.

Is it good for kids?

Yes. The Easy category uses simple, very drawable words like cat, sun, and house. Animals, Food, and Objects suit older kids, and Hard is best for adults.

What are the rules of Pictionary?

The artist draws the word with no letters, numbers, talking, or gestures, while their team guesses before the timer ends. Teams take turns and score a point for each correct guess.

How many people do you need?

You can play with as few as four, split into two teams, and it scales up for a big group. One phone with this generator and something to draw on is all you need.
