Rode PSA1+ Mic Arm

9.1/10 Our verdictHands-on tested · not gifted

The mic arm that won't sag. Around $100, super sturdy, and it handles a heavy Blue Yeti X with zero droop. Skip the $20 Amazon arms — they simply can't hold the weight.

Why the arm matters more than you think

The Rode PSA1+ is probably the best mic arm out there. It's around $100, super sturdy, and it handles the weight of a Blue Yeti X with no problem. The Yeti X is heavy, so cheap arms sag and droop under it — and there's nothing more annoying than a mic that slowly sinks toward your desk mid-recording.

Don't cheap out here: the $20 Amazon arms can't handle the Yeti X's weight and you'll end up with a droopy mic. If $100 is too much, there are ~$40 booms rated for the weight — but skip the bargain bin entirely.

What I liked

  • Holds a heavy Blue Yeti X with no sag
  • Genuinely sturdy build
  • Clean cable management
  • Smooth to reposition

What to know

  • Pricier than bargain arms
  • Overkill for a light mic
  • Needs a desk edge or mount
  • Springs can be stiff at first

Common questions

Will it hold a Blue Yeti X?

Yes — no sag. That's exactly what it's built for.

Are the cheap $20 arms fine?

No — they droop under the Yeti X's weight. Get the PSA1+ or at least a ~$40 arm rated for the weight.
