Why bait beats spray

Spray kills the ants you see and the colony just sends more. And vinegar, cinnamon, and the other home remedies just make ants reroute around the spot for a week, then come back. What actually works is bait.

I set Terro liquid baits along the wall where the ants enter. They carry the bait back and feed it to the queen, and the colony dies within days. I've used them four springs in a row, three baits, two weeks of light activity, then nothing for the whole summer.

Safety note: it's a liquid bait, so place it where kids and pets can't get to it.
