In 40k you roll fistfuls of dice, and without a tray they scatter into the terrain, knock over models, and roll off the table. A dice tray corrals the roll on a flat, quiet surface. Players look for a tray big enough for a handful of dice that also folds flat to pack in a case.
Top picks at a glance
Wiz Dice Collapsible Dice Tray
A cheaper folding faux-leather tray that does the same job without the 40k branding.
Forged Gaming Folding Dice Tray
A sturdier folding tray with a leatherette finish some players prefer for feel and durability.
What should you look for in dice tray for Warhammer 40k?
A few things separate a good dice tray for Warhammer 40k from a frustrating one: big enough, folds flat, soft lined base, and raised edges. Weigh these before you buy.
- Big enough: room for a handful of dice so rolls do not jump out.
- Folds flat: the corners fold down to pack it into a bag between games.
- Soft lined base: quiets the roll and protects metal dice.
- Raised edges: sides that actually contain a hard throw.
