A few things separate a good noise cancelling earbuds from a frustrating one: cancellation strength, fit & seal, sound & app, and battery & calls. Weigh these before you buy.
- Cancellation strength: the whole point, and it matters most against steady low-frequency noise like engines and fans.
- Fit & seal: ANC only works with a good ear-tip seal, so a secure, comfortable fit is essential.
- Sound & app: a decent EQ and app let you tune the sound and the level of cancellation.
- Battery & calls: look for all-day battery with the case, and clear microphones if you take calls.
